Blacks

13-17 Promenade, Cheltenham GL50 1LN, UK – 01242 509855

Helpful staff helped us buy some new walking shoes for my incredibly fussy husband. I think he tried on every single pair that they had before deciding that the first pair were best after all!!! Great that there is a hiking ramp so you can properly try the fit out before you buy them.

Good customer service. Great prices. Open area easy to navigate around. Good quality merchandise available here.

Millets

100 High St, Cheltenham GL50 1EG, UK – 01242 501008

Really helpful and friendly staff. They always have time to help you out. 5* to James and the team.

The guy was really helpful in helping m3 choose some boots for 3 peaks

WalkingWorld.jpg
Another good one. Walkingworld has huge library of guides with a good selection of walks, of varying lengths and grades, pretty well anywhere in the UK. The walks come in an excellent format making them very easy to follow, with photographs to illustrate every important decision point and a proper Ordnance Survey map.

A modist annual subscription gives you unlimited access to all the walks. However you can Pay As Go by downloading indiviual walks.

Crucially you can also find walks France, Spain, Norway, Portugal and Australia!

Camping and Caravaning

Stansby Touring Park

Reddings Rd, The Reddings, Cheltenham GL51 6RS, UK – 07944 105239

Very small campsite ideally located just 15 minutes drive from Cheltenham. The facilities were very clean and tidy but rather tired and would benefit from a refresh. There are only 3 showers for the whole of the site and people were often queuing to have a wash. The reason for only 3 stats was due to how noisy the site was. On one side was a very busy main road and to another was a train track with trains running until well past midnight. Our tent was pitched on the opposite corner from both of these and we could still hear them quite loudly. Our tent backed on to a small park homes development. I think the person in the unit behind us must have had heading difficulties as they had the tv volume cranked up so high that you could be forgiven for thinking it was us with the tv on. The site warden was lovely and gave us a quick tour of the facilities when we arrived and could have been more helpful. He gave us the code for the free WiFi and details of nearby supermarkets, pubs etc. I wouldn't stay here again.

Only a one night stay to link up with family, arrived rather late and left promptly, so little time to really get a feel for site. Simple but v. clean facilities.

Briarfields Hotel & Touring Caravan Park

B4063, Cheltenham GL51 0TS, UK – 01242 235324

Great site nicely played out with very clean toilets and shows block. Bus stop for Cheltenham and Gloucester just out the gate. Highly recommended.

We often stay here on pur way further south as it's a great place to stop over. Staff friendly and helpful. Site is clean and well maintained its also good for longer periods as close to many places of interest and to visit

Cheltenham Racecourse Caravan and Motorhome Club Site

Prestbury Park, New Barn Ln, Prestbury, Cheltenham GL50 4SH, UK – 01242 523102

This is really unusual for a caravan site, essentially it’s the car park for the race course but I liked it greatly. The staff and facilities are great and I enjoyed the views of the track and the hills beyond.

Good site nice staff super views across valley.quiet site all good.
