Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. Cheltenham Town Hall

Imperial Square, Cheltenham GL50 1QA, UK – 0844 576 2210

Such a beautiful venue...have been here many a times and was even a thought for our wedding. Have seen numerous shows here and loved it every time. Nicest part is that all the staff are lovely and friendly.

I have always loved this venue. Its an unconventional setup, with the main auditorium being in the middle of the building with corridors all around. Staff are friendly and helpful, and they have a good mix of shows here.

Cheltenham House Dental Practice

30 Winchcombe St, Cheltenham GL52 2LZ, UK – 01242 513146

Recently moved to Cheltenham and needed a dentist for my wife and I as we believe in preventive dentistry for good oral health. Checked around the area and decided on this practice. The best decision we could have made. Two appointments were made for my wife and I to have one after the other. Our dentist is called Alex and he was brilliant, one of the best dentists I have had over my life time and I am 64. Brilliant patient manner which put me totally at ease straight away. Unhurried attitude to check my teeth properly and ask relevant questions regarding general and oral health, he was wonderful, and his assistant male nurse who was very attentive as well. My wife was next after me and she had the same excellent treatment Alex putting her at ease and explaining everything as well... she came out with a smile on her face saying what a lovely dental appointment that was as he was so gentle and caring. I can only recommend this practice to anyone who needs a good dentist with a marvellous patient attitude and excellent customer service with the receptionists as well.

Pittville Lawn Dental & Implant Clinic

6 Pittville Lawn, Cheltenham GL52 2BD, UK – 01242 225225

I have found Pittville Lawn Dental and Implant Clinic to be kind and informative and professional at every visit. All the staff are happy to answer my questions and I have learned a lot about how to care for my teeth and gums through their patient explanations. I am always treated with respect and never feel as if I'm being rushed. I would recommend this clinic to anyone.

I used to hate going to the dentist - now I look forward to it ! A team of expert professionals who know exactly what they're doing. I feel very comfortable, safe and well looked after- very happy 😊

Bupa Dental Care Cheltenham

31 Leckhampton Rd, Cheltenham GL53 0BD, UK – 01242 578433

Having previously had a lot of problems using an NHS dentist I came to the Leckhampton Practice a few months ago. Having a problem with a tooth that had been filled numerous times by my old dentist but was still causing me problems. I show Dr Lucy Congrad who was both professional and friendly.she took x-rays of my tooth and informed me that it was cracked all the way through and explained that a perminat filling would not resolve the problem. She advised that it would be advisable to have the tooth taken out and go fro either a bridge or an implant. She said she would put a temporary filling in for the time being and printed off a treatment plan. She referred me to her colleague Dr Gok (GG) for an extraction, but there was no rush to decide what options I needed to go for. I returned to see GG for the extraction - I was very nervous, but GG was very friendly and put me at ease. She confirmed with me what tooth she was takening out, then went on to explain what she was about to do. After having an injection and waiting a few minutes for my gums to go numb she had the tooth out in a matter of seconds! I really had no reason to be nervous! GG explained a few dos & donts also gave me an information sheet to read. She booked me back in a week later to check everything was okay and we discussed my options. I have decided to go for an implant and I’m looking to get this done in the new year. I have also had a well needed hygiene appointment with Trudy. This was 30minutes long and very thorough, my teeth felt so fresh and clean afterwards. I would highly recommend the Leckhampton practice, you can really tell the difference between NHS and private -well worth the money. Great people and great service. Thank you guys πŸ˜€

Oriel Villas Dental Surgery - Dentist Cheltenham

1 Oriel Rd, Cheltenham GL50 1XN, UK – 01242 523531

The dentist was so lovely and comforting and just reassuring the whole time which made me feel differently about going back to the dentist. I recommend them they were efficient and caring and just great overall. I have been very happy with them!

Absolutely fantastic surgery, phoned in the morning got an appointment 11 o'clock. I'm usually so nervous about visiting the dentist but the dentist I saw was amazing, they made me feel at ease and done a brilliant job, my pain was gone in an hour, the whole team were really nice and friendly!

Illume Dentist Practice Cheltenham

3A Queen's Rd, Cheltenham GL50 2LR, UK – 01242 522230

Illume is a fantastic dentist conveniently located in Cheltenham. They provided excellent pain free treatment of a bad tooth. I don't live close, and it is a bit of a trek for a visit to the dentist. But after my first appointment, experiencing the professional, really friendly atmosphere, I won't want anybody else looking after my teeth. You can take for granted the quality of treatment and sympathetic care. I really believe that you get what you pay for. Being with a 'cheap' dentist before taught me that it was just false economy; pay a bit more to get the job done right the first time is my philosophy.

My first visit to Illume and I have never been treated so well. Everyone made me feel comfortable in the practice. Such an amazing difference to the NHS dentist I used to visit. I was completely relaxed. Slightly out of my way, but definitely worth the visit to such a caring dentist.

Lovely nurses + doctors

Underwood Surgery

Underwood Surgery, 139 St George's Rd, Cheltenham GL50 3EQ, UK – 01242 580644

My family and I have been patients at Underwood Surgery for nearly ten years. It has always delivered a good service with very short waits for my young children and a choice of familiar, friendly doctors. In the last couple of years I have noticed we need to wait longer for appointments but I would put this down to cuts from the Conservative government rather than the surgery itself.

Have been with Underwood for 30 years and have always been very well looked after even when they are relay busy

I wanted to say a huge thank you for the care you gave me the other evening after I stuck something in my eye. Everyone from the reception to triage nurse and nurse practitioner were so friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. We were in and out in an hour. Thank you

Always great here. Caring, supportive staff. Many thanks for all your hard work.

The Gynaecology Group at Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital

Hatherley Ln, Cheltenham GL51 6SY, UK – 01242 246549

I have recently had a major operation under Dr Kaloo and my experience could not have gone more smoothly. I had an initial consultation with him and he explained the whole operation thoroughly, in a friendly but professional manner. The consultation lasted an hour as I had so many questions, but I was only billed for the agreed half an hour. He also gave me his email address so that I could ask any further questions at any time, and my emails were always answered. On the day of the operation I met with him again to make sure I fully understood what was happening, and then the surgery itself went very well. After the operation, Dr Kaloo came to see me a number of times in the hospital to check on me and to make sure I was comfortable. At all times he was reassuring and professional.

Swindon Road Recycling Centre

Ideal for smaller rubbish trips, I'd use the one north of Cheltenham if you have larger items. Doesn't take all items as well, such as plasterboard, best to check the council site before visiting. Staff are always helpful.

Public free place to recycle all kinds of things: cardboard, electronic components, glass, furnitures, wood...

Give and get free stuff. Here you will find lots of items that people are willing to give away, for FREE! This is instead of taking them to a local landfill site. The aim of this site is to reduce the amount of waste that goes to landfill (20.9 million tonnes of it last year in the UK) and recycling is great news for the environment.
We all know that we need to recycle more - and this is a great way of doing it.

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Cheltenham

ASK Italian

Hanover House Montpellier, Cheltenham GL50 1SD, UK – 01242 510888

Met a friend for lunch on a Sunday. Server was pleasant. The menu was standard chain Italian. The food was prepared quickly, and was enjoyable. A good, solid restaurant, but didn't wow. I would eat there again if one was near, but would not put it on my list restaurants I frequent.

Nice waiters and excellent food. The mushroom starter was superlative. Service could be more dynamic however, had to wait some time before starter was cleared away.

Bill's Cheltenham Restaurant

70 Regent St, Cheltenham GL50 1HA, UK – 01242 220775

The afternoon tea is very good. Recommend the teacakes . Butter done just right in a melted blob in the middle and some quality and unusual jams. Nice big metal teapots too from which you can get several cups. Breakfasts also very good. Well cooked. Good choice and generous. Sort of a regular now. Only complaint is they don't do pots of coffee . Have raised this.

Had breakfast this morning. Nice food but should have taken out a bank loan first. Scrambled egg and streaky bacon on toast, orange juice, coffee. . . . more than Β£28 for two.

Purslane Restaurant

16 Rodney Rd, Cheltenham GL50 1JJ, UK – 01242 321639

Excellent food on a not over extensive menu. Very good service from a helpful and attentive staff. Most enjoyable experience. Three courses and wine for less than Β£100. No complaints.

This small restaurant has room for 34th covers, so it is quite intimate. The food is excellent. Tasty and fresh and very good value . Staff extremely helpful . Highly recommended but you have to book well in advance as usually fully booked

Nursery and Preschools

Winton House

11 Warden Hill Rd, Cheltenham GL51 3AU, UK – 01242 511417

My daughter attends Winton House but my eldest went to another local nursery full time for 4 years so I do have something to make a comparison with and can't speak highly enough of Winton House and the staff there. Jo is very approachable and familiar and the staff welcome my daughter with open arms every morning. She hates being left with anyone else but loves arriving at Winton House to start her day which speaks volumes.

My son has been going to Winton House for six months. He absolutely loves it and can't wait to leave home in the morning to get there! It's a lovely environment and the staff appear very friendly and helpful. We chose this day nursery having seen quite a few others in the area and have been very pleased with our choice. We would definitely recommend it.

Cheltenham Bournside School and Sixth Form Centre

Warden Hill Rd, Cheltenham GL51 3EF, UK – 01242 235555

My educational experience was great, staff are all very friendly and enjoy teaching. This makes the students, for the most part, enjoy learning too. However the schools management of bullying is a serious issue and needs to be addressed along with their pathetic new uniform rules such as parents being forced to purchase expensive non-fitting trousers/skirts when the majority of students look more respectable than some teachers. Do not punish all children because some of them feel that the skirt needs to be pulled up.

Good school in general but the new trouser policy is a joke. Shocking basketball court.

Public & Preparatory Schools

Airthrie School

Cheltenham GL50 2NY, UK – 01242 512837

Lovely school and what lovely teachers. Highly recommend.

This week, with my business Immersive Theatres, I delivered a 4m digital planetarium experience to all 130 students of Airthrie Primary School. From the moment I arrived I was warmly greeted, assisted and made to feel very welcome by the staff and headteacher. Yet the students were the highlight, because, although very excited, they were respectful and well-behaved in the dome. Thank you Airthrie Primary for a very pleasant visit.
